Xibilia, Karnes Earn TicketSmarter Players of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics has announced Michela Xibilia of women's tennis and Marina Karnes of softball as the TicketSmarter Roo Players of the Week for the week of March 22.
Michela Xibilia
Xibilia has been a consistent force for the Roos in the early season, and pieced together an undefeated week last week. She began with a No. 2 singles victory against Cincinnati, winning 6-4, 6-4. On Saturday, she helped guide the Roos to their first conference victory of the year, defeating St. Thomas. Xibilia teamed up with Anastassiya Timofeyeva at No. 1 doubles for a 6-1 win before sweeping her singles opponent, 6-1, 6-4. The Roos are back in action with a doubleheader against Kansas tomorrow.
Marina Karnes
Karnes and the Roos played four games against top-thirty programs at the OSU Mizuno Invite in Stillwater, Okla. this past weekend. The Celina, Texas native finished the weekend hitting .400 against top-tier pitching, including a 3-for-3 performance at the plate against No. 11 Oklahoma State on Saturday. She also tallied two runs scored and a double to lead Kansas City on offense. The right fielder had six putouts and remains perfect in the field, with zero errors on the season. Kansas City opens conference play at home against North Dakota this weekend.
