Kansas City Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field were both selected seventh in preseason polls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - As Kansas City Track & Field prepares to make its anticipated return, the Summit League Indoor preseason coaches' poll and Athletes to Watch were announced by the league this morning. On the men's side, the Roos were selected for a seventh-place finish out of eight teams, while the Kansas City women were picked seventh of nine sides.
For the Kansas City men, Nahshon Houston was selected as one of the league's Athletes to Watch for the upcoming season. Houston, a Kansas City native, spent the previous two years at Navy, earning 2022 Second Team All-Patriot League honors for Indoor and Outdoor Long Jump. Last season, he notched a career-best indoor jump of 7.35m (24-01.50) at the Darius Dixon Invitational, and took second at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships with a wind-legal jump of 7.15m (23-05.50).
On the women's side, Ally Ryan was honored as an Athlete to Watch. Ryan made her Kansas City debut this fall during the cross country season, earning First Team All-League honors at the League Cross Country Championships with a fifth-place finish. She ran a personal-best 5K time of 18:38.6 at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite, and was among the Roos' top-two finishers in three-of-five races that she competed in. During her final season at Kansas, prior to transferring to KC, she placed sixth at the Big 12 Championships in the 1500m.
The Roos open the indoor season this weekend, competing at the Bob Timmons Challenge in Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday.
