Kansas City fought to equalize, but could not hold on late against NDSU
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Soccer fought to equalize in the late minutes against North Dakota State, but could not hold on, falling 3-1. Lily Stedman scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 77th minute to put the Roos on the score sheet.
KEY MOMENTS
- 10' / 0-1 | The Bison got on the board early, finding a seam in the Roos' defense to score.
- 13' / 0-1 | Sophia Limongi attempted to respond right away, taking a free kick from just outside the box and looking towards the goal, but her shot was high of the mark.
- 40' / 0-1 | Kansas City took three shots in the span of four minutes, one each by Anna Jennings, Rileigh Kuhns and Emma Byrne. Byrne's was the most dangerous of the bunch, cutting to the middle of the field and forcing the Bison keeper to make a save.
- 53' / 0-1 | Anna Jennings ripped a shot from outside of the box, but it curled just outside of the right post.
- 56' / 0-1 | A foul in the box set up a penalty kick for North Dakota State. NDSU's Paige Goaley attempted the kick, sending it towards the right post, but Mackenzie Caldwell guessed correctly, pushing the shot away and keeping the deficit at one.
- 77' / 1-1 | Caijah Anderson won a ball near midfield, making a move to create space and finding Stedman on the left side of the field. Stedman pushed up-field, creating an opportunity and bouncing a shot that snuck between the goalie and the post for the equalizer.
