Kansas City student-athletes posted a combined GPA of 3.20 in the 2021 fall semester
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics student-athletes posted success in the classroom in the 2021 fall semester, boasting a 3.20 semester GPA as a department.
"I am elated by the stellar academic achievement of our student-athletes this semester," Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Dr. Brandon Martin said. "We continue to be at the vanguard of academic excellence at the conference level and nationally. This is a victory not only for Athletics, but for the UMKC campus community."
Of the Roos' 10 athletic programs, nine registered a team grade point average of over 3.0, led by the women's tennis team with a 3.56 fall GPA and men's golf with a semester GPA of 3.54.
Among other successes in the classroom, the Roos also:
- Placed 32 student-athletes on the Dean's List.
- Boasted 27 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.
- Saw 91 student-athletes accomplish a fall 2021 GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Maintained a cumulative department GPA of 3.26.
- Earned a 3.32 semester GPA among the women's teams.
"I want to send a special thanks to our coaches and academic support staff for their contribution in encouraging our student-athletes towards academic excellence," Dr. Martin said. "It has definitely taken a 'village' of support to make this happen."
