Brecka, Jokic Earn TicketSmarter Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics has announced Melanie Brecka of volleyball and Vlad Jokic of men's soccer as the TicketSmarter Roo Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 27.

Brecka, the 2020 Summit League Offensive Player of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-American, has continued her top-level play into the 2021 season, leading the Roos to two wins in North Dakota last weekend. In Thursday's win over North Dakota State, she posted 18 kills on a season-high .484 hitting percentage. She followed that performance with a 17-kill, 26-dig double-double against North Dakota on Saturday. Brecka has a team-high eight double-doubles on the year. The Roos will make their home-opener against Denver this evening before hosting South Dakota State and South Dakota on Thursday and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased here.
Vlad Jokic
Jokic has been Kansas City's top offensive producer in the young season, and the story was no different in the Roos' Summit League-opening draw with Oral Roberts on Saturday. With the Roos trailing by a goal, he took a pass from Kazuki Kimura and headed it into the back of the net to equalize. Jokic currently leads the Roos with two goals, 12 shots and seven shots on goal. Jokic and the Roos are back in action tonight at 7 p.m. for their home-opener against Saint Louis.
