The Roos will take on their third ranked opponent in a row against No. 19 Marquette
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Soccer will take to the road this weekend, wrapping up its season-opening stretch against ranked opponents as it takes on No. 19 Marquette on Friday before matching up with Northwestern on Monday.
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City wraps up its streak of games against ranked opponents against Marquette. It is the first time in program history that the Roos have played three-straight games against teams ranked in the Top-25 poll.
- The Roos' season-opening draw with No. 15 Virginia Tech was their first result against a ranked opponent since a 1-1 draw with No. 13 Tulsa in September of 2013.
- Cooper Clark earned his second-career Summit League Defensive Player of the Week award to open the season, averaging 7.0 saves across the Roos' first two games.
- Through two games, Kansas City is averaging 3.0 shots on goal per game. Last season, the Roos averaged 5.5 per contest.
- Freshman Kyle Reese has played a large role in Kansas City's defense in the first two contests, playing all 184 minutes. He is the only Roo outfielder to have not seen a substitution.
Marquette Notes
- The Roos ride a two-game win streak against Marquette into this matchup, having defeated the Golden Eagles in back-to-back seasons in 1999 and 2000.
- Marquette enters Friday's meeting a perfect 2-0, having defeated Green Bay and SIUE to open the season.
- Harvey Read has scored in each of the Golden Eagles' first two games, including a game-winner in the 28th minute against Green Bay.
Northwestern Notes
- The Roos are searching for their first-ever win in Evanston, with the lone win versus the Wildcats coming in Kansas City in 2017.
- Northwestern is coming off of a scoreless tie against Illinois Chicago and will play Loyola on Friday before Monday's matchup.
- Rom Brown scored the Wildcats' first goal of the season in their season-opening loss to Chicago State.
