McKissic, Allick Named to All-League Teams

Brandon McKissic was named Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-Summit, Josiah Allick was given an Honorable Mention All-League nod
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Summit League announced its All-League awards today, with Kansas City's Brandon McKissic and Josiah Allick earning honors. McKissic was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year and a spot on the All-League Second Team, while Allick earned a place on the Honorable Mention All-League team.
 "Congratulations to all of the award winners, this season had so many remarkable individuals, making the voting very difficult," Head Coach Billy Donlon said.
McKissic has been the Roos' senior leader through-and-through, leading the team in points (17.5), assists (3.3) and steals (1.6) per game. He is among the best in the Summit, ranking top-ten in the league in points per game, field goal percentage, three-point makes per game, assists per game, steals per game and minutes per game. McKissic has broken the double-digit scoring mark in 16-straight contests, leading the Roos' scoring efforts 10 times and breaking the 20-point mark on five occasions. He has set career-high marks in multiple categories this season, scoring 29 points against Omaha on Feb. 12, dishing eight assists against Denver on Feb. 20 and logging four steals twice.Â
"Brandon has been an excellent defender over his entire career and earning the Defensive Player of the Year is a culmination of his work," Donlon said. "He certainly deserves being an All-League player. Brandon has embraced and thrived in the move to point guard over the past two years."
McKissic will be enshrined in the Kansas City record books for years to come. His current career mark of 1,165 points is ninth in program history, his 248 assists are also ninth and his 129 steals puts him in sixth.
Allick has been a consistent presence in the post for Kansas City all season, starting in all 21 of his appearances. He is currently averaging 14.6 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game, good for 11th and 10th in the Summit League, respectively. Allick is the most efficient scorer in the Summit, connecting on 57.1% of his field goal attempts. As it currently stands, that mark would rank eighth in program history for single-season field goal percentage. He has posted four double-doubles on the year, breaking double-figure scoring 17 times and pulling down 10-plus rebounds four times.Â
"Josiah has had a very good season and while I am biased, I believe he should have made the All-League Team," Donlon said. "I know he will use it as motivation moving forward."
McKissic is no stranger to defensive awards, having been named to the All-Conference Defensive Team in each of the previous two seasons. The Honorable Mention accolade is the first All-League honor of Allick's career. McKissic is the first Roo in program history to win Defensive Player of the Year honors, and the eighth to be named Second Team All-League. Allick is just the sixth in program history to be named Honorable Mention All-League.
Kansas City opens its postseason in the Summit League Quarterfinals against North Dakota State on Sunday at 8:45 p.m.
