Brecka, Hirokawa Earn TicketSmarter Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics has announced Melanie Brecka of volleyball and Kotaro Hirokawa of men's soccer as the TicketSmarter Roo Players of the Week for the week of Nov. 8.

Brecka has remained the Roos' top offensive option, and last weekend against Oral Roberts she could not be stopped. Brecka sent across 25 kills on .352 hitting, setting a season-high in kills. Her mark of 25 kills also came within one of her career-high, reached last season against South Dakota. In addition, Brecka sent across three aces, had two block assists and notched 11 digs. Her total of 29 points scored matches a career-high. The Roos are at home for two matches this weekend, tickets can be purchased here.
Kotaro Hirokawa
Hirokawa played one of his best games of the season this past weekend in the Roos' 1-1 draw with conference-champion Denver. He attempted a season-high three shots, including the equalizing goal on a penalty kick in the 54th minute. He played all 110 minutes on the day, playing a vital role in the Roos' back line that allowed just two shots on goal all day. The Roos are currently preparing for the Summit League championship, where they will take on Denver in the semifinals on Thursday at 11 a.m.
