Volleyball Wraps up Regular Season Against Summit's Top Teams

The Roos will travel to Denver for a match tomorrow at 1 p.m. before hosting Omaha for senior day on Sunday at 1 p.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -Â With the end of the regular season rapidly approaching, the Roos will look to head into the Summit League tournament on a high note as they take on Denver tomorrow and Omaha on Sunday. Both matches will be played at 1 p.m.
Kansas City Notes
- Following a three-game losing streak, the Roos got back on the right track last week against St. Thomas and Western Illinois.
- At 10-6 in Summit League play, the Roos have officially clinched a spot in the Summit League Tournament, starting Nov. 25. KC could end as high as the four seed or as low as the six seed.
- The Roos have qualified for their respective conference tournament for each of the past nine seasons, the longest streak in program history. Prior to Coach Christi Posey taking over, the Roos had qualified for postseason play just eight times total.
- Thanks to a 4.7 kills per set average and .475 hitting percentage, Melanie Brecka earned Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, her second of the season and third of her career.
- Brecka currently ranks top-ten in the conference in kills (3.71) and points (4.34) per set, as well as total service aces (36), and total digs (282).
- At .392, De'Janae Arnold holds the third-best hitting percentage in the conference and the 30th-best in the nation. She tossed across a career-high 17 kills last week against Western Illinois.
- With an average of 4.62 digs per set, Maddie Renn holds the top spot in the Summit League. Renn has surpassed 20 digs in 10 matches this season.
- Last weekend against the Leathernecks, Alli Schomers dished a career-high 60 assists. She currently leads the Summit and ranks 13th in Division One with an average of 11.07 assists per set.
- At 104 sets played so far, Kansas City is tied with Western Illinois for most in the Summit.
Denver Notes
- The Roos took on the Pioneers in their home opener on Sep. 28, falling 3-0. Brecka and Arnold had 11 kills each for KC in the loss.
- The Roos have never won a match against Denver, holding an 0-4 all-time record. The Pioneers have swept the Roos in all four matchups.
- Denver ranks top-20 in the nation in aces per set, hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage.
Omaha Notes
- Omaha have rattled off nine-straight wins and currently hold the top spot in the Summit.
- The Mavs swept the Roos in their first meeting on Oct. 19. Brecka led the Roos' attack with 12 kills.
- The Roos hold a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series, but the Mavericks have won three of the last four meeting.
