Odyssey Warren led the Kansas City attack with 14 kills on .233 hitting

VERMILLION, S.D. - Kansas City Volleyball could not overcome an effective South Dakota attack this evening, falling to the Coyotes, 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 25-16). Odyssey Warren led the Roos' attack with 14 kills, while De'Janae Arnold and Melanie Brecka sent across 12 each.

KEY MOMENTS

S1 | After falling behind 15-8, a Carly Gillen kill sparked a 6-2 run for the Roos that brought them within three points.
S1 | A kill by Brecka brought the Roos within four points at 22-18, but that was as close as they would get before USD took the set.
S2 | The teams traded points back-and-forth to begin the second set before a Brecka kill put the Roos ahead by two, 12-10.
S2 | A block by Gillen and Brecka on the right side put Kansas City ahead, 20-16 and forced a South Dakota timeout.
S2 | The Coyotes battled back to force extra play, but a kill by Bree Thompson and then a block by Thompson and Gillen gave the Roos the set and tied things up.

STATS TO NOTE

Maddie Renn dug up 27 South Dakota attacks on the night, coming within two of her career-high of 29. She also surpassed the 1,000 career dig mark early in the first set.
Warren and Arnold each threw down five kills in the Roos' second set victory.
Brecka added 13 digs along with her 12 kills for a double-double.
Gillen finished the night with six kills, four of which came in the first set.
The Roos finished with five blocks on the night, compared to the Coyotes' 13.
