KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics has announced Sarah Karloff of women's soccer and Kazuki Kimura of men's soccer as the TicketSmarter Roo Players of the Week for the week of Oct. 18.
Sarah Karloff
Karloff has seen her role in the Kansas City offense expand in recent weeks, playing 25-plus minutes in three of the last four games after reaching that mark just once in her first nine appearances. Against Omaha on Sunday, she stepped in as a sub, playing a season-high 35 minutes and scoring the game-winning goal. With the Roos and Mavs knotted at 1-1, Morgan McLaughlin launched a corner kick into the box. Lillie Fields headed it to her right, finding the head of Karloff, who put a rainbow over the outstretched arms of the Omaha keeper and into the back of the net. Karloff and the Roos are in action at home this week, taking on Western Illinois on Friday and St. Thomas on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased here.
Kazuki Kimura
Kimura, a transfer from Costal Carolina, has been an impact player for Coach Ryan Pore, appearing in all 11 matches and starting in the last nine. He started the scoring in the Roos' 3-1 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday, scoring on a left-footed shot from outside of the box. Kimura has two goals and an assist on the year, and his five total points ranks second on the team. In his 11 appearances so far this year, he has played at least 80 minutes in six of them. Kansas City Men's Soccer is back at Durwood Soccer Stadium for another game this weekend, taking on Western Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
