
Roos Fall to Wolverines in Series Opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC softball team (20-13, 1-3) returned to WAC play on Friday afternoon when they opened up a three game series against Utah Valley (8-17, 1-3), falling 8-5 at Wolverine Softball Field in Orem, Utah.
The Roos got the scoring started in the second when Maegan Rollow and Madason Shaw scored on Faith Willis' single and pushed the lead to 3-0 in the third when Chyanne Onstad's sacrifice fly plated Sydney Garcia.
The Wolverines, however, answered with five in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take an 8-3 lead after five.
UMKC cut the lead to three when Kailyn Packard singled to right to knock in Willis and Shaw, but the Roos were unable to get any closer as the dropped the opener 8-5.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again tomorrow in a doubleheader against the Wolverines starting at 2 p.m. CT.
