BOULDER CITY, Nev. - At the SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational, the UMKC women's golf team finished seventh out of 12 teams at the 72-par, 6,322-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Roos went into the clubhouse both days in the seventh position, finishing with a 325-330-307/962 (+98) during the three-round event. This is the second event of the Spring season for the Roos.
"This week was another tough one for the books," said UMKC head coach Brianna Broderick. "We faced a little adversity on Monday during the 36-holes and did not adjust to the changing winds. However, it was great to see the ladies bounce back and play at a similar level to our fall season.
"We jump right back in to traveling next week, so we will look to capitalize on today's round by making some adjustments as we move forward next week and with the remainder of the season."
Sophomore Caroline Klemp finished her third round on a high note shooting a team-low 76 for the day. She went on to take 14th (tie) overall with a +21-par 237 (82-79-76). Klemp's 76 tied with freshman Theresa de Bochdanovits for the low round as both golfers accomplished the mark today. Bochdanovits tied for 24th overall and stroked a 240 (79-85-76) for a +24-par.
Klemp recovered from her first event of the Spring -- at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational from Feb. 23-24. At that event, she was fifth on the team and finished 100th overall.
As a team, UMKC had the third-most pars in the event with 145. Junior Jaime Bellingham, who finished tied for 34th overall, had the second-most pars on the course with 34.
Teresa Toscano of South Dakota State earned top medalist honors with a +6-par 222 (71-76-75).
Xavier won the team championship with a 312-306-305/923 (+59).
Next up for the Roos is the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from March 21-23.
