Women's Golf Wrap Up the Johnie Imes Invitational With a 13th Place Finish

"This week was an interesting week for the team only competing with four players throughout all three rounds," head coach Brianna Portmann said. "For the team to rally and put together a couple of respectable team scores, shows the grit and determination of each and everyone of our players."
The team traveled with a full team of five players, but junior Victoria Pavlik did not complete, which left the Roos with only four competitors.
The field consisted of a plethora of talent with teams from across the country: the University of Missouri (host school), Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Fresno State, Illinois State, Mercer, Northern Illinois, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, Southern Illinois and Wichita State.
The second round on Tuesday was a hot one on the course. The team finished the day ranked 13th (314) going into the final third round on day three. R-Freshman Hayley Jones posted her best score of tournament on day two with a score of 77.
"Hayley had some great highlights this week and it's nice to see her competing again," head coach Brianna Portmann said.
On Wednesday, the team wrapped up the tournament with a final team score of 927 (+63) and a 13th place finish. The Roos were led by senior Jamie Bellingham, thanks to a solid first round, as she finished T-28th in the field with a score of 73, 76, 77 - 226 (+10). Kenni Henson finished ranked T-44th and the second best team score for the Roos with a final 231 (+15) score."It was great to see Jaime play consistently throughout the first two rounds," Portmann said. "She just had a difficult round Wednesday and couldn't get anything going, but proud of her performance. Kenni showed that she belongs competing right along with some of the best players here in this area. She had a small blip during her second round, but started the tournament strong and bounced back Wednesday," Portmann said.
