Kansas City Weekly Notes
- With just four more regular-season games remaining, the Kansas City Women's Soccer (8-3-4, 0-2-2) team is looking to make up ground in the conference standings. The Roos host a single match this weekend welcoming Utah Valley (7-6-1, 2-1-0) to Durwood Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
- The Roos are trying to snap a four-game winless streak, all coming in conference play. Last weekend, the Blue and Gold dropped a pair of WAC road games at Grand Canyon and CSU Bakersfield to fall to seventh in the league.
- After Sunday, Kansas City still has to face the two least successful conference teams in New Mexico State (0-4) on the road Oct. 24 and Chicago State (0-3) on the road Nov. 2. Conversely, the final home game on Oct. 27 is set against the second-place team California Baptist (3-1).
- Utah Valley first plays at Chicago State Friday prior to the meeting with Kansas City. The Wolverines are tied for fourth-place in the WAC and winners in four of their last five games.
- In the all-time series with Utah Valley, Kansas City holds a slight 6-5-0 advantage and has won the last three meetings. The Roos are 2-1-0 all-time at Durwood Stadium. During the current three-game win streak, the Roos have out-scored the Wolverines by a 7-0 count.
- The tie on Oct. 6 to Seattle U secured the Roos third-straight winning season and sixth in the last seven years. Kansas City has four regular-season games remaining and has a chance to be 12-3-4 overall, which would put the Roos at three-straight 12-win seasons.
- The Roos' defense has posted six shutouts on the year and has allowed just 14 goals in 15 games (0.88 gapg), which ranks second in the conference. The unit has allowed one-or-fewer goals in 12-of-15 games.
- The Roos got off to a school-record start at 8-1-2, which also marked the best non-conference record in their 11-year history. They were undefeated through seven games, prior to its first loss in game eight on Sept. 17 against Creighton (L, 2-1).
- With six shutouts on the year, the Roos have now compiled 16 shutouts through 36 games (44.4%) dating back to last year. The two shutouts in the first two games this year was a first in the 11-year history of the women's soccer program.
- Kansas City is nearing a program milestone. Through Oct. 14, the Roos sit at 99 all-time wins since the program started in 2009. Overall, the program is 99-94-25.
- The four double-overtime games played in 2019 ties for the second-most in a single-season in KC history. The 2011 team compiled six, double-overtime games.
- Sophomore forward Rylan Childers presently ranks among the top-60 in the NCAA in five different major offensive categories. She is among the nation's best in total goals (31st - 9), goals per game (59th - 0.60), total assists (51st - 6), total points (21st - 24) and points per game (40th - 1.60).
