
UMKC Hosts Omaha for Monday Doubleheader

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC softball team concluded the Western Athletic Conference regular season schedule on Saturday, April 30, finishing second in the league with a 10-5 conference record. The 'Roos will now play five non-conference games before heading to the WAC tournament in Seattle, Washington next week, starting with a doubleheader on Monday, May 2 at Missouri 3&2 Field against Omaha, with games scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
UMKC (21-22) welcomes the Mavericks (28-23) to Kansas City for the first time since 2013 where the 'Roos went 1-2 in a three-game series against Omaha.

- Head coach Meredith Smith Neal is the winningest coach in UMKC softball history with an all-time record of 203-296.

- Senior Katie Kelley became the UMKC record holder for career doubles on April 30 in game two of the doubleheader against New Mexico State. Kelley has tallied 48 doubles in her career, surpassing former record holder Amanda Rice (1999-2002).
- Senior Brooke Parker broke the school record for runs scored in a career over the weekend against New Mexico State. Parker has scored 143 runs in her career, taking the top spot from Kaelene Curry (2009-12).

The 'Roos will close out the regular season with a three-game series in Kansas City against IUPUI on May 6 and 7. Friday will hold a doubleheader slated to start at 2 and 4 p.m., with the series wrapping up on Saturday with a noon first pitch.
