
UMKC Heads To Seattle for Three-Game Series

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC softball team is headed to Seattle, Washington to play a three-game series against Western Athletic Conference nemesis Seattle U, April 22 and 23.
The first two games will be played on Friday, with game one scheduled for 6 p.m. CST with the second game to follow, while the series finale is slated for Saturday at 4 p.m. Kansas City time.

Head coach Meredith Smith Neal picked up career-win No. 200 in the series finale against Utah Valley on April 16. Smith Neal is the winningest coach in UMKC softball history and has won exactly half of all of UMKC's games, as the all-time record for the school sits at 400-840.
Clutch Gene
Senior Katie Kelley is batting .462 with runners in scoring position (18-for-39), leading the 'Roos in the category this season. What's more, Kelley has stepped to the plate seven times this season with the bases loaded, and has came through with a hit six times. She is 9-for-11 (.818) with a runner on third base with less than two outs, and 9-for-22 with two outs.
Already a Regular
Freshman Morgan Byrn has made herself a regular in the lineup this season, as she is the only player on the team to start every game at the same position.
Double Down
With nine doubles this season, senior Katie Kelley's career total is 46, one shy of the UMKC record of 47, set by Amanda Rice (1999-2002).
On the Chase for the Hits Record
Katie Kelley has recorded 45 hits this season, averaging 1.216 hits per game. With a total of 198 in her career, she currently ranks third on UMKC's all-time list. If she continues her pace, she would end with 211 career hits at the end of the regular season, 12 shy of the UMKC record of 223 (Kaelene Curry, 2009-12).
Coming Up on the Runs Record
Senior Brooke Parker is coming closer to another UMKC record. Already the all-time steals leader at the school, Parker is just six runs scored shy of tying the UMKC record of 142 for a career.

Junior Alex Gale has made her way on UMKC opponents' plunk list, as she has been hit by a pitch 12 times this season. On three separate occasions, Gale has been hit by a pitch twice in a game, including both games of the doubleheader against CSU Bakersfield. Her season total leads the WAC, and ranks 19th in the nation in hit by pitch per game (0.33).
