?Roos Return To Colorado For Mark Simpson Invitational

(Kansas City, Mo.) – UMKC men's golf returns to action on Sep. 28-29 when they take part in the Mark Simpson Invitational in Boulder, Colo., hosted by Colorado.
The Field
The 12-team field includes: Air Force, Colorado, George Washington, Houston Baptist, Loyola-Marymount, Northern Colorado, Sam Houston State, UMKC, Utah State, UTSA, Wichita State and Wyoming
The Course
The tournament will take place for the first time at Boulder Country Club, located in the northeast corner of the city. The championship layout is a 7,110-yard, par-70 configuration, and the greens feature bent grass. BCC, now in its 51st year at its current location, has hosted numerous local, state, regional and national competitions, most recently the 2015 Pac-12 Conference women's championships in April 2015.
Last Time
Antoine Rozner continued to pace the UMKC men's golf team on the final day of play at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational as the senior finished tied for fifth in the event at -4, leading the 'Roos to a tie for seventh at the Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colo. In the final round, Rozner carded a 73 with four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the par-5 11th and the par-4 12th.
In his UMKC debut, Jakob Garstecki climbed into a tie for 69th after shooting the team's lowest score in round three with a 70 that featured three birdies and just one bogey. Fellow first year 'Roo, Francois Lagraulet fired a 73 on the final day of play birdieing two holes on both the front and back nine to tie for 62nd.
Thibault Vieilledent carded the second lowest tournament score for UMKC, finishing in a tie for 42nd with a final round 76, while Cameron Wiltse tied for 59th after a 78 with birdies on the par-4 1st and the par-5 4th.
Playing as an individual, Matthew Sieg fired a final round 77 with a trio of front nine birdies and one more on the back nine to end the event in 77th.
Rozner Tabbed As WAC's Best
After moving into the top spot on both the UMKC single season scoring average and career scoring average and claiming a pair of tournament titles, Antoine Rozner was named as the WAC Player of the Year and First Team All-WAC.

Last Season
In 2014-15, the 'Roos notched a pair of runner-up finishes, finishing second at both the Price's “Give 'Em 5” Invitational and the WAC Championship, with Antoine Rozner winning WAC Player of the Year, claiming a pair of individual titles and advancing to the NCAA Championship.
Head Coach J.W. VanDenBorn
Former UMKC men's golf student-athlete J.W. VanDenBorn was named the Director of Golf at his alma mater in June 2007. In this capacity, he oversees both the men's and women's golf programs for the Kangaroos.
Overall, VanDenBorn has been the head coach for the men's program for the past 12 seasons. In five of the past seven seasons (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013), VanDenBorn guided the 'Roos to at least a second place showing at The Summit League Championship with his 2011 squad winning the first tournament title in school history and the 2013 squad winning the second. He has led the 'Roos to top-four finishes in the league championship tournament eight times.
