Ball State Runs Away from Kansas City

(Kansas City, Mo.) – Kansas City placed runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings, but failed to capitalize in an 8-0 loss to Ball State on Saturday.
The Cardinals pushed across three runs in the top of the third inning after a lead-off triple and a pair of walks set the table. A fielder's choice and an RBI double later it was 3-0, BSU.
The wheels came off during a five-run fifth after a single bookended by a couple of walks loaded the bases for Audrey Bickel. Bickel hammered an 0-2 pitch deep and gone for a grand slam and a seven-run advantage.
Katie Kelley threw four innings, allowing four earned on five hits, and striking out one.
The 'Roos are scheduled to play Ball State and Missouri at noon and 2:30, respectively, weather permitting.
