
Kansas City Claims Desert Shootout Title In Record Setting Fashion

(Kansas City, Mo.) – The Kansas City men's golf team brought home the team title at the Desert Shootout, downing BYU in a one-hole playoff after breaking the school record for the second straight day with a third round 274, -14 at the Palm Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
Overall, the 'Roos carded a three round score of 833, -31, setting a new UMKC record, eclipsing the previous mark by 13 strokes.
Individually, senior Nathan Hughes continued to roll in the third round, claiming individual medalist honors with a school record total of 200, -16 after shooting a final round 68 that gave him a three shot victory.
Sophomore Antoine Rozner climbed into a tie for 15th on the final day with a career-low round of 68, while junior Mitch Tucker fired his third straight round of 70 to also tie for 15th at -6.
Senior Jack Fiscus finished with the 'Roos next lowest score at +2 in a tie for 46th after a final round 73, while freshman Thibault Vieilledent carded a career-low 68 in the final round to jump into a tie for 51st at +3.
Senior Cole Chelle, meanwhile, finished in a tie for 59th at +5 playing as an individual.
In the event, the 'Roos totaled four eagles, including two by Hughes, while Hughes added 16 of the 'Roos 60 birdies.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again tomorrow when they hit the course for the third and final round.
