?Roos Head Back To Palm Valley For Desert Shootout

(Kansas City, Mo.) -- The 'Roos will continue the 2014 season on Mar. 20-22 when they head to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Desert Shootout at the Palm Valley Country Club (Par 72; 7,015-yard). The 54-hole tournament is slated for a shotgun start on all three days with Thursday and Friday set for 10 a.m. CT and Saturday scheduled for 9:30.
The Field
The 15-Team Field Includes: Bowling Green, BYU, Call State Fullerton, Columbia, Creighton, Drake, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Kansas, Kansas State, Kansas City, Long Beach State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa and Southern Utah.
The Venue
Palm Valley Golf Club's two distinct 18-hole layouts, superb conditions, and complete practice facilities make it a true gem of the West Valley and a must play destination for those visiting the Phoenix area. It's a supreme challenge for the low handicap golfer yet forgiving for someone who wants an enjoyable experience regardless of the score.
The Arthur Hills-designed Palms Course, a par-72 layout that covers 7,015 yards from the back tees, features one of the finest closing holes in the region -- the par 5 18th with a lake on the left side of the fairway that wraps around a three-tiered green.
Last Time Out
The Kansas City men's golf team closed out play at the Bandon Dunes Championship in 12th place after a final round 303 at the Pacific Dunes course in Bandon, Ore.
Sophomore Antoine Rozner and senior Nathan Hughes led the 'Roos on the final day as each carded 74. Rozner registered birdies on a pair of back nine par fives to finish tied for 27th, while Hughes placed tied for 47th after eagling the par-five 15th.
Junior Mitch Tucker was the 'Roos third lowest finisher, carding a final round 78 with a birdie on the par-five 18th to tie for 55th. Freshman Thibault Vieilledent, meanwhile, tied for 67th after a third round 79 and senior Jack Fiscus finished one shot back in a tie for 69th after birdieing the par-four 2nd and the par-three 5th in the final round.
Rankings
According to GolfStat, the 'Roos are ranked as the third highest team in the WAC, coming in at 175, trailing only New Mexico State (57), Idaho (103) and Utah Valley (148). Golfweek, meanwhile, has the 'Roos ranked 171, also behind NMSU (63) and Idaho (106).
Over The Summer
Nathan Hughes: qualified for the Oklahoma State Amateur at the Tulsa Qualifier.
Antoine Rozner: placed eighth in the Biarritz Cup.
Mitch Tucker: won the 76th Iowa Masters Golf Tournament.
Nicholas Scrymgeour: claimed the title at the Frank Lindsay Alberta Junior Championship.
Last Season
In 2013, the Kangaroos claimed their second Summit League title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Korbin Kuehn, Nathan Hughes and Antoine Rozner were named to the First Team All-Summit League and Cole Chelle and Jack Fiscus were named to the Second Team All-Summit League, while Kuehn was named Summit League Golfer of the Year and Golfer of the Tournament after claiming his second individual Summit League title. Antoine was named Newcomer of the Championship.
