
?Roos Erase Large Deficit, But Fall 16-8 to Texas Tech in Five Innings

With this loss, the Kangaroos dropped their fourth straight and finished the season 0-5 against the Red Raiders.
To start the game, Texas Tech recorded three consecutive doubles in the first inning, including infielder Sandy James and designated player Adriana Perez driving in a run each to give the Red Raiders a 2-0 lead.
Next inning, Texas Tech made it a 4-0 ball game after infielder Samantha Camello (1) hit a solo homer off pitcher Deanna Friese (4-5) and outfielder Katelyn Williams recording an RBI-single.
The Red Raiders continued their strong start in the third inning, beginning with a leadoff solo home run by Perez (12) to increase her squad's lead to five. Later in the inning with runners in scoring position, same score, pinch hitter Nicki Dunlap (1) made it a 8-0 contest with a three-run home run to left.
In the fourth, however, Kansas City's offense came alive by recording three-straight singles to lead off the inning. With pitcher/designated player Katie Kelley (1-1) at the plate, she RBI-singled to center to bring in two runs to cut the deficit to six, followed by infielder Chelsea Hartwig driving in two runs of her own with a double up the middle to make it a 8-4 ball game. The 'Roos would tack on two more runs in the inning with catcher Caitlin Christopher recording an RBI-single and later scoring after infielder Jenna Rangel grounded out to first.
Next inning, same score, Kansas City continued its blistering comeback as it tied the game at eight with a Kelley (4) two-run bomb to center.
Although, Texas Tech's offense revived up again by tallying eight runs in the fifth, spearheaded by Perez driving in two runs with a single and Camello RBI-doubling to bringing in two runs. To seal the victory later in the inning, outfielder Shelby Johnson drove in Camello from second with a single through the right side.
Despite the loss, Kansas City's offense managed 10 hits with three players recording two, headlined by Kelly's 2-for-4 performance at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored. Also, infielder Marlee Maples went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while infielder Liz Broyles went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Coming up, the Blue & Gold will look to close the weekend on a high note with a win against UT-Arlington later today at 3 p.m.
