“Omaha did a heck of a job, especially their guards,” Head Coach Kareem Richardson said. “We did not execute our game plan… It's part of the growth of our ball club and the new system for guys. We will just keep chipping away and hopefully we learn from these things.”
A big part of the half for UNO was leading scorer CJ Carter, who had 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting. He was backed up by post John Karhoff, who went 6-of-7 from the floor with 12 points.
The second half was a 44-44 tie, but UMKC still allowed the Mavs to shoot 52 percent. Kansas City forced UNO into 11 turnovers, while pulling down 10 offensive rebounds, giving a much better effort in the final 20 minutes.
