
Big Sixth Inning By Wolfpack Plagues UMKC in 6-3 Defeat

In the bottom of the second, no score, after striking out infielder Leah Jones, pitcher Cinda Ramos (7-3) gave up a solo homer to outfielder Landon Warren for the first run of the game.
Next inning for the 'Roos with outfielder Bri Wyatt at first and nobody out, Ramos reached on an erred throw by infielder Scout Albertson to first and later advanced to second as Wyatt moved to third.
Next up, infielder Kaelene Curry flew out to left, but Wyatt came scored from third to tie the game at one. Later in the inning with runners at the corners, infielder Megan Ussary stole second as Ramos scored from third to make it a 2-1 ball game.
In the top of the sixth with one on and one out for UMKC, outfielder Anna Sokolik doubled through the left side as outfielder Tara Wolf advanced to third. Next up, catcher Caitlin Christopher grounded out to second, but Sokolik advanced to third as Wolf scored to increase the UMKC lead to two.
Later in the inning for NC State, infielder Toni Ann Williford doubled through the left side, followed by single to left by outfielder Caitlin Dent. Up next, infielder Renada Davis reached on a fielder's choice and later advanced to second as pinch runner Kelsey Hoover moved to third and Williford scored to cut the UMKC lead to one.
Next up, outfielder Bethaney Wells flew out to center, but Hoover scored to tie the game at three as Davis advanced to third. UMKC head coach Meredith Smith then replaced Ramos with Deanna Friese (3-5).
After walking the first two batters to load the bases, Friese walked Albertson as Davis scored to give NC State a 4-3 lead. After that, Smith re-entered Ramos for Friese.
Next up, catcher Chelsea Tate reached on error by Ussary as pinch hitter Sara Lippard and Warren came around to score. But, Albertson was tagged out at third for the second out, followed by Ramos striking out pitcher Morgan Peeler to end the inning.
In an effort to come back in the seventh, the Kangaroos were retired in order to end the game.
