
UMKC Splits Matches On Day 2 Of Summit League Cluster

Las Vegas, Nev. -- The UMKC women's tennis team (5-10, 2-1) split its Friday Summit League matches, falling 7-0 to IPFW (18-3, 2-0) before downing Centenary (0-7, 0-3) in the late match. On the day, four 'Roos picked up two wins.
Against Centenary, Eva Dalvai and Chelsea Horner teamed to defeat Holden Penney and Isadora Bickham, 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Laura Bouet and Suzan Lisenby downed Holly Clark and Michelle Gaubert, 8-1 at the No. 2 line to pick up the doubles point.
In singles action, Dalvai knocked off Bickham, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 line, while Bouet was victorious over Penney, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Horner, meanwhile, beat Gaubert, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and Lisenby downed Clark, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Jillian Yakominich rounded out the UMKC lineup with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 over Catlin Orschel.
In the match against the Mastodons earlier in the day, Dalvai dropped her match with Amy Recht at No. 1, 7-5, 6-3 and Bouet fell at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1 to Ingrid Ballus. At No. 3, Horner lost to Raquel Vescovi, 6-2, 6-0, while Lisenby was defeated by Caterina Kiefer at No. 4, 6-3, 6-2. From the No. 5 line, Yakominich lost to Yuka Kobayashi, 7-5, 6-0, while Ball rounded out the lineup with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Alexandra Forsyth at No. 6.
In doubles action, Dalvai and Horner fell to Recht and Ballus, 8-2 at No. 1, while Lisenby and Bouet lost to Forsyth and Kiefer, 8-4. Yakominich and Ball, meanwhile, fell at No. 3, 8-3 to Vescovi and Kobayashi.
The Blue and Gold will wrap-up the first cluster tomorrow when they square-off with Southern Utah at 11 a.m.
