Orlando, Fla. -- The UMKC women's tennis team (6-11) dropped its match with Bethune-Cookman, 4-3, despite strong play from senior Holly Davis and freshmen Laura Bouet and Eva Dalvai, as each notched a singles win over the Wildcats..
Dalvai registered a pair of wins for the 'Roos, secureing her first win at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win over Katarina Szaboova, while teaming with Chelsea Horner at No. 1 doubles to beat Szaboova and Stacey Lopez, 8-2.
At No. 2 singles, Bouet defeated Shereen Peterson-Paul, 6-3, 6-3, while Davis' win came over Jeneice Ward, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.
In the squad's other singles matches, Horner fell to Lopez, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3, while Hankova beat Lisenby at No. 4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. At No. 5, meanwhile, Jillian Yakominich lost to Valeshia Kendrick, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, Bouet and Lisenby downed Eva Hankova and Peterson-Paul, 8-6, at No. 2, while Yakominich and Jessica Ball lost to Kendrick and Ward, 8-4, at No. 3.
The Blue and Gold will be back in action again tomorrow when the face Albany to wrap-up its trip to Florida.
