
'Roos Fall On The Road At IUPUI

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The UMKC men's basketball team dropped a 103-65 road decision at IUPUI on Thursday night in The Jungle. The Jaguars had four players finish in double figures and finished with a .679 (38-56) field goal percentage in the contest.
Two UMKC players reached double digits with sophomore LaTreze Mushatt leading the way with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Mushatt also had a team-best six rebounds. Junior Jay Couisnard, meanwhile, added 10 points.
The Jaguars jumped on UMKC early in the contest, building a 16-6 lead over the first six and a half minutes. The 'Roos, however, answered with a 7-0 run, which included a three-point play by Max Rockmann, to cut the deficit to three with 12:06 to go in the half.
UMKC continued competing as it kept its deficit at single digits until the eight minute mark. IUPUI then caught fire to push its advantage to over 20. The Jags made 9-of-10 shots down the stretch to push their lead to 49-27 at the break. IUPUI shot a blistering 74.1 (20-27) percent from the field, while forcing the 'Roos into 12 turnovers.
UMKC played even with the Jaguars coming out of the break, as it cut the margin to 18 (41-59) six minutes into the second half. IUPUI proceeded to break the game wide open over the next six minute stretch, as it went on a 19-4 run to push its advantage to 33 (78-45) with 8:10 remaining.
The Jaguars went on to build to a game-high 42 (97-55) point lead with 3:36 to play before going onto the 103-65 victory.
UMKC shot .436 (24-55) from the floor and .263 (5-19) from long range, while IUPUI finished with a .679 (38-56) field goal percentage and a .429 (6-14) mark from three-point land. The Jags also won the battle on the boards, 31-25, and they had 21 assists on their 38 field goals.
Robert Glenn and Alex Young combined for 55 points for IUPUI, finishing with 29 and 26 points, respectively. Glenn made 7-of-9 shot attempts and 15-of-18 free throws, while Young was 12-of-17 from the field. Leroy Nobles finished with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, and Jon Avery added 14 on a 6-of-6 night from the floor.
UMKC (11-15, 5-10) will return to action on Saturday night in Macomb against Western Illinois beginning at 7 p.m.
