
UMKC Falls To ORU, 3-1

Tulsa, Okla. -- The UMKC men's soccer team continued its four-game road swing on Saturday night, but couldn't continue along its unbeaten path, falling 3-1 to Oral Roberts.
Oral Roberts opened the scoring in the 10th minute, as Nicola Bogdanovic nodded in a cross from Juan Chang.
Bogdanovic nearly doubled the lead for the home side in the 15th minute, but Ken Cooper was able to make the save.
John Bayron Sosa nearly equalized for the Kangaroos in the 18th minute, but his shot was saved by Andrew Techanchuk.
Oral Roberts added a second goal in the 39th minute, as Niger Portillo was able to turn on a cross from Miguel Peralta and volley it past Cooper.
UMKC had a pair of chances turned away to open the second half, as shots from Kyle Perkins and Brian Harris were both saved by Techanchuk.
The Blue-and-Gold continued to press, but Oral Roberts would score a third goal in the 63rd minute.
UMKC was finally able to tally in the 89th minute, as Perkins took a pass from Matt Kopsky and beat Techanchuk with a hard-driven shot.
With the loss, UMKC falls to 1-2-1 in Summit League action, 6-6-3 overall. Cooper recorded eight saves in the loss, as Oral Roberts outshot the Kangaroos by a 19-16 margin.
The Blue-and-Gold finish out their four-match road swing on Wednesday night with a contest at Missouri State. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Springfield, Mo.
