Kyndall Ellis-Powell began her role as the Director of Development, for Athletics, on December 11, 2023. Ellis-Powell will assist with the development, implementation, and management of the athletic department’s strategic advancement goals and objectives.

Ellis-Powell brings a multiplicity of expertise through seven years in collegiate sports with focus areas of Communications and Public Relations, Event Planning and Activation, as well as Corporate Partnerships and Sponsorships. As a member of the UMKC Foundation & University Advancement team, Ellis-Powell will effectively employ the Senior Managing Director of Development, Director of Athletics, Deputy Directors of Athletics, and other appropriate staff and leadership volunteers as partners in strategy development, donor cultivation, and solicitation for Roo Athletics.

Prior to her arrival at Kansas City Athletics, Ellis-Powell served as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development at WeCOACH, where she was instrumental in raising six times the #GivingTuesday donation goal. Ellis-Powell also demonstrated success as the Senior Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Women Leaders in Sports, where she managed and activated all partnership activation strategies, resulting in a 52% revenue growth from the previous year.

Ellis-Powell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies, with a Social Science minor, from Clemson University in 2018. She then went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Public Relations, with an emphasis on Sports Media and Information, from Syracuse University in 2020.

Ellis-Powell is a distinguished member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and serves as a Member of the Kansas City Sports Commission’s Emerging Leaders Board. Ellis-Powell is married to her husband, Cornell, and is the proud dog mom of Birkin and Bentley.
