- Assistant Coach/Technical Coordinator
Luciano Bucci enters his first season as an assistant coach/technical coordinator with Kansas City Volleyball in 2024. Bucci came to Kansas City after spending time at Park University, where he was the Tri-State Conference Beach Volleyball Coach of the Year, and before that was an All-American selection as a student-athlete.
“When the opportunity to join Kansas City’s coaching staff came my way, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Bucci said. “Coach Posey’s unmatched energy and the dedication of her entire staff to giving athletes their best chance to succeed are truly inspiring. I’m excited to be part of this incredible team and contribute to its success.”
In his current role, Bucci is tasked with the responsibility of scouting and video analysis, assisting in the development of effective game plans and strategies.
Bucci was an assistant coach at Park University from 2022-23, while also leading the Pirates’ beach volleyball program. A powerhouse at the NAIA level, Park racked up more than 30 wins and qualified for the national tournament in both of his seasons on the bench with the women’s team. The Pirates’ men’s team went 27-2 in 2023, winning the Heart of America and qualifying for the national semifinals.
He was also crucial in the development of setters Julia Mocellin, Eduardo Faquin and Arianna Marino, all of whom were named All-Americans. Faquin was selected to the Brazilian National Team, competing in the U21 World Championships.
Park’s beach team enjoyed success under Bucci’s guidance as well, qualifying for the national tournament and earning a spot in the quarterfinals in both seasons. In 2023, he was named the Tri-State Conference Co-Coach of the Year.
Prior to his time coaching at Park, Bucci was a student-athlete for the Pirates. He spent the 2018 season at Missouri Valley College before transferring and putting together an incredible career at Park. When his career came to a close, he had tallied over 3,000 career assists, ranking third in school history. He was a three-time All-American, was the 2020 conference Setter of the Year and was the first player in program history to earn three CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.
Bucci earned his bachelor’s degree Business Administration from Park in 2021, also earning a master’s in Information Systems and business Analytics in 2024.
In addition to his role with the Roos, Bucci is also a web developer for UGA Finance.
