Head Coach Christi Posey welcomes Kyle South as the volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming 2020-21 volleyball season. South comes to Kansas City after spending 2016 and 2017 as an assistant at Oral Roberts. Before that, he served two seasons as a volunteer assistant at the Big East's Creighton.
During his time with the Bluejays, Creighton went 52-18, winning the Big East both seasons and advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2015. Creighton won the Big East regular season and tournament championship in 2014 and 2015 as South worked with the setters, middles and defensive training.
Prior to joining Creighton, South spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. While with the Vikings he assisted with both the men’s and women’s teams, setting single-season records for wins on both sides.
South has experienced winning at nearly every stop including two seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa Western Community College, where they earned a fifth place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. He has also served as an assistant coach at the high school level and since 2009 he has spent time as a head coach and assistant coach for several club teams in western Iowa and Kansas.
“Kyle will bring a variety of skills to our program as he has experienced success at several notable programs," Posey said. "He will assist with on court coaching and statistical analysis. We look forward to his contribution this season.”
A graduate of Manhattan Christian College, South earned his Bachelors of Science in Bible and Worship Ministry.
