Nicole Villarreal joined the Kansas City Athletics Sports Medicine Department in November 2023 and currently serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with Women’s Basketball and the Dance Team.
Prior to joining Kansas City, Villarreal served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Louisville, working with Field Hockey. She previously served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Louisville Women’s Lacrosse from 2020–22 and as a Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer with Cross Country/Track & Field in 2020.
A 2018 graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Athletic Training, Villarreal earned her Master’s degree in Post-Secondary and Higher Education from Arizona State University in 2020. During her time at Arizona State, she spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with Cross Country/Track & Field.
A native of Gurnee, Illinois, Villarreal is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and holds certifications in Functional Dry Needling Levels I and II, Graston Technique MS1, Myofascial Decompression Techniques Levels I and II, FAT Tool, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, and Personal Trainer. She also serves as a preceptor for athletic training students from neighboring universities.
Outside of athletic training, Nicole enjoys cooking and spending time with family, friends, and her dog.
