Jerrica Russell enters her third year as Kansas City Women's Basketball's Director of Operations in 2025-26, marking her fourth year with the program and her fifth year with Kansas City Athletics overall.
The 2024-25 season saw Kansas City post six conference victories and earn the sixth seed in the Summit League Championship, both of which were the best of the Jackson-Durrett era. Kansas City opened the championships with an upset victory over third-seeded North Dakota State, the Roos' third postseason win as a lower seeded team under Jackson-Durrett. Alayna Contreras was named to the All-Summit League Second Team and Ana Oliveira Dias was named to the All-Newcomer squad.
In 2023-24, the Roos posted a 12-20 record, including a five-game winning streak throughout the month of December. Kansas City won three games in Summit League play, taking the #8 seed into postseason play. Emani Bennett was named to the Summit League All-Freshman Team, while Alayna Contreras and Dominique Phillips earned All-Newcomer Team honors.
In the 2022-23 season, Russell began her tenure under Coach Dionnah Jackson-Durrett, serving as a GA. She was on the sidelines as the Roos became the first 10th-seeded team in Summit League history to qualify to the League Semifinals.
"I'm excited to be a part of the women's basketball team here at Kansas City," Russell said. "I have lived in the Kansas City area for the past eight years, and the opportunity to help build this program is not one I could pass up on. Coach Jackson has had a very successful career and I am excited to work and learn from her and the rest of the staff."
Prior to joining the women's basketball staff, Russell spent time in the NAIA national office as a Customer Success Manager. Within that role, her duties included assistance of international students, administration and coaches with issues regarding eligibility.
Russell's first stint with Kansas City Athletics came in 2019-20, as a Ticketing Graduate Assistant.
While studying at MidAmerica Nazarene University, Russell served as a manager for the women's basketball team for two years.
She graduated from MNU with a degree in sports management, minoring in marketing. During her undergrad career, she was a four-time Dean's list student, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She received her master's from UMKC in 2021, earning a Master's of Higher Education.
Originally from St. Louis, Russell graduated as Salutatorian from Collinsville Christian Academy in 2015. She currently resides in Grandview, Mo.
