Meg Gentry is in her second season with the UMKC track and field team as a graduate assistant. Gentry primarily works with the cross country team and the distance runners for the track and field squad. Gentry joined the Kangaroos after serving as a substitute teacher and track and field/cross country coach for Maranatha Christian Academy in 2009.
While at Maranatha Christian Academy, Gentry taught all subject levels, kindergarden through 12th grade. On the athletic side of things, Gentry facilitated practices and meets, aided in fund raising events and coached student-athletes.
As a student-athlete, Gentry ran track and field/cross country for Kansas State. She was a first team academic all-Big XII honoree and earned the MVP award in cross country. Gentry was also an academic all-Big XII award recipient for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and was an outdoor academic All-American for the Wildcats.
Gentry earned her bachelor of science in secondary education and english from Kansas State in 2009. She is currently in pursuit of her master’s degree from UMKC in teaching english as a second language.
