Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City remains in the Flickertail State this weekend to face off with North Dakota at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Elauni Bennett (14), Emani Bennett (13) and Kelby Bannerman (10) led KC offensively in a 54-77 loss to North Dakota State in Fargo.Â
- Elauni Bennett is one of two players in the Summit to average over 15 PPG (15.1), 7.5 RPG (7.6) and shoot over 60% (60.9%) from the field. Bennett leads the Summit League in offensive rebounding, grabbing 4.4 offensive boards a night. Last time out vs. UND, Bennett hauled in 12 rebounds, six on the offensive side.
- Emani Bennett is closing in on the 1,000 career point milestone. The junior guard out of Lee's Summit, Mo. sits at 981 career points in 79 career games played and 68 career starts. Bennett would be the 18th player in program history to achieve the feat and do so in the fourth fewest games played. The last Roo to achieve the 1,000 point mark was Naomie Alnatas, finishing with 1,019 in 2022.Â
- Kelby Bannerman is coming off back-to-back games of scoring in double figures, posting 10 points in each of her last two outings against North Dakota State and South Dakota. Bannerman has played well against the Fighting Hawks in her career, recording 18 points and seven rebounds on 50% shooting from the field in KC's last battle with UND on March 1, 2025.
- Kansas City leads the Summit League in three point shooting and offensive rebounding, knocking down 36.3% of shots from three season while grabbing 13.8 offensive boards a night as a team.Â
- North Dakota comes off a 75-54 win over Omaha on Thursday night, giving the Fighting Hawks their first win of Summit action this year. UND matches the Roos record at 4-12 while also holding a 1-2 record in conference play.Â
- North Dakota is 4-4 at home and have won three in a row at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. In addition to beating Omaha, UND also beat Dickinson State 65-46 and Maryville State 79-30 to close non-conference play.Â
- Walker Demers leads the Fighting Hawks in scoring (10.7 PPG), rebounding (8.5 RPG) and blocks (1.1 BPG). Demers comes off a 23-point, eight-rebound outing against Omaha.
- UND was ranked seventh place in the Summit League Preseason Poll, gaining 251 points and finishing right behind the Roos in the poll. The Fighting Hawks tied with KC for fifth at 6-10 in Summit play during 2024-25.Â
