The Roos and Mavs tip-off at 1 p.m. inside Baxter Arena and on the Summit League Network
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City begins the latter half of Summit League play with a road trip to Omaha on Saturday afternoon. The Roos will look for the season sweep on the Mavericks as KC opened conference action with a 61-59 win over Omaha back on New Year's Eve in the Swinney Center.
- Kansas City's 1-0 start to Summit play was spearheaded by the terrific play of Elauni Bennett. The junior guard polished off her fourth double-double of the season, pouring in 18 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 82% overall to help topple the Mavs.
- The Roos are 3-0 in true road contests against Omaha in the Jackson-Durrett era, dating back to 2022-23. Additionally, KC has won the last four meetings with the Mavs in Baxter Arena. Kansas City is 5-4 vs. UNO overall in Jackson-Durrett's tenure.
- Across Kansas City's three wins in Summit League play, the Roos forced an average of 18.6 turnovers per game. Kansas City is second in the Summit in forcing turnovers (18.8) while holding third in the conference when it comes to turnover margin (3.4). KC turned Omaha over 16 times in the two teams prior contest.
- Zaire Harrell has stepped up in a big way over KC's last five games. The well-tenured Roo is averaging 13.2 PPG and 7.2 RPG while shooting 53% from the field in that span. Harrell had a four game double figure scoring streak broken last Saturday vs. SDSU but has more than doubled her career scoring average in this recent handful of games.
- Omaha heads into Saturday afternoon's clash with the Roos at 2-21 overall and 0-8 in Summit League play. The Mavericks have beat Saint Mary (Neb.) 88-47 and Briar Cliff 90-81 back in late December.
- Although winless in Summit play this year, the Mavericks closest margin of defeat is a two-point loss to Kansas City back on New Year's Eve.
- Omaha is 2-7 at home this season. Last year, the Mavericks were above .500 at Baxter Arena, going 7-6 across their 13 home games in the 2024-25 season.
- True freshman Avril Smith has been a stalwart for the Mavericks this season, averaging a Summit-best 252 rebounds and grabbing 11.0 boards per game (2nd in Summit). Smith also leads the conference in total shots blocked (52) and blocks per game (2.3).
