Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City enters this matchup alternating wins and losses. The Roos beat North Dakota 77-56 last weekend before falling 65-81 to Oral Roberts on Thursday.Â
- Last season, Kansas City beat St. Thomas 91-82 at the Swinney Center on Feb. 20 as the Bennett sisters and Zaire Harrell all cracked double figure marks in scoring. Kansas City is 2-2 all-time vs. the Tommies at home.Â
- Zaire Harrell is coming off back-to-back games of double figure scoring for the first time this season. The senior guard posted 22 points vs. UND and 14 points vs. ORU. The only other time Harrell put up 22 points in a game was the aforementioned win against the Tommies last season. Harrell recorded those 22 points while shooting 90% from the field and grabbing nine boards.Â
- Elauni Bennett excelled in the loss to ORU with 20 points and 12 rebounds to her name. The double-double performance was Bennett's fifth of the season and ninth of her career. Bennett now leads the team in scoring (15.3 PPG) and rebounding (7.7) while leading the Summit in OREB, grabbing 4.5 a game and shooting over 61% from the field which ranks third in the conference.Â
- Emani Bennett just reached the 1,000 career points mark on Thursday, scoring a putback layup with 5:52 in the fourth quarter to eclipse the well-deserved milestone. Bennett is the 18th player in program history to achieve the feat and did so while playing the fourth fewest number of games (81 GP, 70 GS).Â
- St. Thomas sits at 9-9 overall and 2-2 in Summit League action as the Tommies beat Omaha 81-68 last time out on the floor. UST's other Summit win this season came against Denver, beating the Pios 74-65 in overtime.Â
- St. Thomas is 3-2 on the road this season with key wins over Alaska Anchorage, Montana and Omaha. The Tommies were 6-8 in true road contests last season while finishing 17-13 overall and claiming fourth place in the Summit standings.Â
- St. Thomas holds a positive all-time record of 5-3 over the Roos. The Tommies held a five game win streak from 2022-25 until the Roos snapped the streak last February.Â
- Alyssa Sand leads the Tommies in points, rebounds, steals and blocks. Sand ranks sixth in the Summit with 7.6 rebounds per game and second in swipes at 2.1 steals per game.Â
