
Volleyball Releases Full 2025 Schedule

Roos will play 29 total matches, 16 in Summit League and 13 out-of-conference
KANSAS CITY, MO. – Kansas City Volleyball kicks off the 2025 schedule with a slate full of familiar opponents and new opportunities. Two years removed from a regular season Summit League Championship, the Roos hope to return to form in the 15th season of the Coach Christi Posey era. In 2025, the Roos will host nine matches at the Swinney Center, eight of which will be against Summit League foes. This season Kansas City will be hitting the road early and often as the Roos will play matches across nine different states in 2025. Single game and season tickets are available now!
The year will start with Kansas City traveling to Radford, Va. to take part in the Radford Invitational for the Roos first of four non-conference tournaments this fall. The Roos' first gameday comes on Friday, Aug. 29 where KC will play a pair of matches against Marshall and Radford. The next day, Kansas City finishes the Radford Invitational with a battle against Eastern Michigan.
To start September, the Roos will head north for a pair of tournaments in The Prairie State. The first of which is the Saluki Bash hosted by Southern Illinois. Kansas City will face Eastern Illinois on Friday, Sep. 5 before also squaring off against the Salukis later that day. The Roos round out the tournament by taking on the 2024 CUSA Tournament runners-up in New Mexico State that Saturday.
The following weekend, Kansas City takes on a fresh set of challengers at the Bradley Tournament. The action gets going for the Roos with matches against Central Michigan and Jacksonville State on Friday, Sep. 12. To finish out the tournament, Kansas City faces off against the 2024 MVC Tournament runner-ups in Bradley on Saturday, Sep. 13.
The Roos return to the Swinney Center for their home-opening contest against Western Illinois at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 16. Through a 14-season tenure, Coach Posey is 93-63 in home matches played at the Swinney Center.
Non-conference play finishes up as the Roos stay in familiar territory for the Missouri Challenge to take on three in-state foes. With matches against Southeast Missouri State and Saint Louis on Friday, Sep. 19 and a final non-conference match against Missouri State the following day, the Roos will be battle tested heading into Summit League action.
Summit League play opens up on the road for the Roos as Kansas City travels to St. Paul, Minn. on Thursday, Sep. 25 for their conference-opening match versus St. Thomas. A couple days later, the Roos play Denver on Saturday, Sep. 27. Last season, the Roos took down the Pios on the road, winning 3-1 at the Ritchie Center.
Kansas City begins the month of October by hosting both the Peace Garden State schools in North Dakota State and North Dakota. First, the Roos play the Bison on Thursday, Oct. 2 then they take on the Fighting Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 4. Last season, Kansas City swept North Dakota, taking the first match at home 3-1 and defeating the Fighting Hawks in straight sets on the road.
The next part of the 2025 schedule sees the Roos alternating home and away contests against a bevy of Summit League foes. On Oct. 9, KC travels to Brookings, SD. to match up with South Dakota State before returning home for a contest against South Dakota on Oct. 15. From there, the Roos travel to the Sooner State on Oct. 18 to face Oral Roberts and host Omaha on Oct. 21.
Following their fifth home match of the season, Kansas City travels to Grand Forks on Thursday, Oct. 23 for their second matchup with North Dakota of the season. Staying in the state, the Roos will then battle with the Bison of NDSU in Fargo on Oct. 25 for their sixth road test of the Summit League slate.
In 2025, four of the Roos final six conference matchups are at home, giving the team an advantage for the backend of its conference schedule. To start November, Kansas City hosts St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 1 and Oral Roberts on Nov. 6. In 2024, the Roos beat the Golden Eagles in straight sets at the Swinney Center.
For the Roos penultimate road contest, KC squares off against South Dakota on Saturday, Nov. 8 but returns home in short order to host South Dakota State on Thursday, Nov. 13 and Denver on Nov. 15. Kansas City closes the regular season off by traveling to Nebraska to face Omaha on Nov. 18.
The 2025 Summit League Volleyball Tournament will be played from Nov. 23-26 and hosted by South Dakota State as the defending 2024 regular season Summit League champions.
