
Roos Reach the Podium on Final Day of Summit League Championships

Owere Dominates Again, Securing Gold In The Triple Jump
FARGO, N.D. - Kansas City Track & Field competed at the Summit League Championships in Fargo, N.D from May 11-13. The Roos reached the podium in the first track event on the final day, the men's 4x1. KC came away with a silver medal after running a 40.82 for a new season best. Graduate transfer Ally Ryan dominated the field in the women's 1500 meter as she took home gold with a new personal record of 4:22.09 breaking her own school record. Sophomore Benjamin Owere is the reigning indoor Summit League triple jump champion and returned this weekend to take the triple jump competition on his second jump clearing a distance of 15.01 (49-03.00) to surpass his competitors.Â
Jaleesa McWashington put the first four points on the board for the women's team as she took fifth place in the long jump with a clearance of 5.92m (19-05.25). McWashington closes out her season as the fourth all-time performer in this discipline for the Roos. Sophomore Caden Wehner earned himself a spot in the 400-meter hurdle final by running a lifetime best of 55.23. Wehner returned Saturday afternoon and claimed a seventh-place finish in a time of 58.08.Â
Logan Pratt lined up against a competitive field in both the 100-meter and 200-meters on Friday evening. He was ultimately bumped out of the final in the 100-meter with a 10.71, matching his personal best. Later, he advanced to the final in the 200-meter with a new personal best of 21.68. Pratt closed out his outdoor season in seventh place in the 200-meter final with a time of 21.70. Junior Powell closes out his freshman campaign with a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters with a 10.60.Â
