A short-handed Kansas City squad could not overcome third-ranked North Dakota
TULSA, Okla. - Playing without its number two singles and First Team All-Summit League player, #2 Kansas City Tennis (9-12, 5-2 Summit) fell in the Summit League Semifinals to #3 North Dakota (11-12, 5-2 Summit), 4-1. Catherine Chrobak was unavailable for the Roos due to injury, forcing KC's second through sixth players to play up a spot.Â
The Fighting Hawks got out to a quick start, taking the doubles point behind wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots. The lead quickly became 3-0 after UND took points at No. 5 and then No. 1 singles. A 7-5, 6-3 win by Honorable Mention All-Summit League player Joana Cardona at the No. 4 spot briefly gave Kansas City life, but North Dakota won at No. 6 to clinch a championship berth.
