Roos Play Oral Roberts, St. Thomas to Round out 2023

Kansas City travels to Oral Roberts, before hosting St. Thomas Sunday
Starting Five
- The Roos open conference play against Oral Roberts in Tulsa. This is the second year in a row that Kansas City has started conference play on the Road. Last season, the Roos fell to South Dakota and South Dakota State before returning to the Swinney Center.
- Kansas City's bench has played an important role so far this season, averaging 35.4 points per game. The Roos bench is fourth in the nation in points per game and first in the Summit League.
- Before the start of conference play, the Roos round out the top four teams in the Summit League. The Roos fall behind South Dakota, Oral Roberts and South Dakota State and are one of the four teams in the League with a winning record.
- Lisa Thomas led the Roos in steals against Mizzou, tallying five steals in the first five and a half minutes of play. Thomas leads the team in steals with 20 so far this season. She averages 1.5 steals per game.
- In the matchup against Mizzou, Dominique Phillips led the team in scoring. She put up 14 points, four rebounds and two steals in her 28 minutes on the court.
Oral Roberts Notes
- Oral Roberts will look to extend their winning streak to two. The Golden Eagles earned a 76-74 victory over Wichita State on December 20.
- Last season, the Golden Eagles opened up conference play with back-to-back losses on the road against South Dakota State and South Dakota. The last time Oral Roberts opened conference play at home was Dec. 20, 2021, in their 90-59 loss to South Dakota.
- Sophomore guard Taleyah Jones leads the Golden Eagles on the offensive end, averaging 15.6 points per game. Jones put up a season-high 23 points against Texas on Nov. 29, 2023. Â
St. Thomas Notes
- The Tommies open conference play at home against North Dakota before facing the Roos on New Year's Eve. St. Thomas will look to advance to a winning record, heading into conference 6-6. The Tommies put up a dominant win over UW-Stevens Point 82-49 in their final game before conference play.
- Last season, St. Thomas beat the Roos both at home and away. At the end of the season, they advanced to the second round of tournament play but fell to South Dakota State, ending their season.
- Sophomore guard Amber Scalia leads the Tommies in points, averaging 16.2 points per game. She has earned double-digits in every matchup except for the most recent against UW-Stevens Point in which she scored eight.
