Volleyball Opens NIVC Play Against Tulsa

Kansas City Takes On Tulsa Tomorrow At 3:30
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Volleyball is ready to make its second appearance in the postseason NIVC tournament, securing an automatic bid after securing the No. 1 seed in the Summit League regular season standings. After notching second place in the Summit League Tournament Championship match with a 3-2 loss to Omaha, the Roos earned their spot in the postseason.
- In the Summit League title game against Omaha, the Roos marked their second appearance in a league championship game, the first since 1997. Despite a historic season, the Roos ultimately fell to the Mavericks, who held Kansas City to a .096 hitting average.Â
- The Roos are determined to extend their season and put a halt to Tulsa's six match winning streak in the head-to-head. Their last encounter came in 2019 at the KC Roos Klassic, where they fell. 3-1. The last Roo win came in October of 2001
- Kansas City has had an outstanding season, highlighted by a match against Omaha where Senior Odyssey Warren led with 16 kills and 15 digs, Kaia Dunford, and Sydney Henry all achieved double- doubles. Dunford contributed 13 kills and 17 digs, and Henry recorded 40 assists and 16 digs.Â
Tulsa NotesÂ
- Tulsa and Kansas City are gearing up for their first-round clash in the NIVC tournament, marking Tulsa's return to the NIVC competition after their last appearance in 2021.Â
- Â Tulsa currently leads the series with 12 wins compared to Kansas City's six. On Sep. 7, 2019, Hurricane prevailed over Kansas City with a 3-1 victory, marking their sixth consecutive success against Kansas City.Â
- Tulsa concluded their regular season with a 3-1 victory over Charlotte. Setter Avery Kalsu played a pivotal role in orchestrating the offense, assisting five Tulsa attackers, three of whom reached double figures in kills. Kalsu contributed 38 assists at an average of 9.5 assists per set and added five kills of her own. On the defensive end, Kalsu showcased her skills with 18 digs, securing her 16th double-double of the season.
- Â Kayley Cassaday, outside hitter, spearheaded the Tulsa offensive, tallying 17 kills at an average of 4.25 kills per set.
