KC will seek its first-ever conference tournament championship tonight at 7 p.m.
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Volleyball will seek its first Conference Tournament Championship in program history this evening, taking on Omaha in the Summit League title game. The Roos have advanced to a conference championship game just once in program history before, in 1997. That squad defeated Buffalo in five sets in the semifinals before falling to Oral Roberts in the final match.
- Head Coach Christi Posey earned her fourth-career postseason win on Monday night, her first-ever semifinal win. Previously, she had been 0-6 in semifinal matches.
- Summit League First Teamer Odyssey Warren led the Roos attack in the semifinal win over North Dakota State, finishing with 16 kills on 59 swings. It is her 12th match this season with 15-or-more kills.
- Sila Ozyurek had an efficient match, finishing with 10 kills on .600 hitting, adding five block assists. Her hitting percentage of .600 is the best by a Roo with double-digit kills in a postseason match since at least the 2002 season.
- Â The Roos finished with 13 blocks against the Bison, the third-most in a single match for the Roos this season and the 10th match with double-digit blocks. KC's five solo blocks tied a season-high, previously reached against Florida Atlantic on Aug. 25.
- On the season, Kansas City is the best team in the Summit and ranks 26th in the nation in digs per set, averaging 16.45. Summit Defensive Player of the Year Leah Green leads that charge, averaging a league-leading 4.72 digs per set.
Omaha NotesÂ
- Omaha and Kansas City are preparing to compete for the Summit League Title. Currently, Kansas City holds the edge with 9 wins, exceeding Omaha's 8. The series between the two teams is evenly split, with each securing a victory in the recent matchups.
- The series is currently tied, with both teams vying for the title. Omaha managed to outlast Kansas City 3-1 on November 2nd, following their previous matchup in Omaha on September 21st when the Roos secured a victory after five sets.
- The Mavericks secured a spot in their third consecutive Summit League Tournament Finals after withstanding a late comeback attempt from the No. 3 Denver in the semifinals. Initially taking a 2-0 lead, Omaha saw the Pioneers equalize at 2-2, leading to a decisive fifth set
- In the matchup against the Denver Pioneers, the Mavericks notched a total of 11 service aces, with Rachel Fairbanks leading the way with four. This marked the fourth instance this season in which they recorded double-digit aces in a match.
