The Roos will host Kansas and Kansas State in September
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Entering her twelfth year as head coach, Christi Posey will be seeking her 10th winning season with Kansas City Volleyball. The Roos will make a splash in non-conference, hosting the Kansas Jayhawks in their home opener on Sep. 7, as well as hosting Kansas State on Sep. 14, both were 2021 NCAA Tournament teams. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now for the Roos' 14 home matches.
"With the consistently high-level of competition in the Summit League, we felt we needed to prepare by adding quality opponents in our non-conference matches," Head Coach Christi Posey said. "We are excited to host KU and K-State in mid-week matches, as well as host local competition in our Roo Classic tournament. We will learn and grow throughout the early segment of our schedule with the goal to be playing our best in November and December."
The non-conference schedule is composed of competition against 11 teams that posted winning records in 2021, with five of those making the NCAA Tournament. The Roos will travel to tournaments at Bradley and Tulane, before returning home for a five-match stretch of action in the Swinney Center. The stretch includes a "White Out" for the home opener against Kansas, in addition to hosting Wichita State and Northern Illinois in the Roo Classic Sep. 9-10, then a final non-conference home match against Kansas State. Kansas City will close out its non-conference with a tournament in Saint Louis, as KC looks for back-to-back victories over the Billikens, as well as their first-ever victories over Missouri State and Iowa State.
Summit League play features a home and away match against all nine conference opponents. Tuesday, Sep. 27 marks Kansas City's conference home opener against Western Illinois where the first 100 fans will receive a blue and gold rally towel. Also, make sure you join the Roos on "Tie Dye - Pride Night" on Oct. 11 against St. Thomas, with a chance to tie dye shirts with the volleyball team the day before the game. The final week of home matches features "Neon Night" against the defending tournament champions, South Dakota, followed by Senior Day on Nov. 12 against SDSU.
The 2022 Summit League Volleyball championships will take place over Thanksgiving weekend in Vermillion, S.D. with the top-six teams earning a spot in the single-elimination bracket.
All home contests will be at the Swinney Center. Stay tuned @KCRoosVB on social media for game day updates and visit KCROOS.COM for the full schedule and ticketing information.
