Jack Chapman and Anderson Kopp each broke the 20-point mark in the win
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball (11-8) made quick work of Spurgeon College this evening, running past the Knights, 111-44. Jack Chapman notched his first-career double-double, piling in a career-high 27 points and 14 rebounds. Anderson Kopp scored 22, adding career-highs in steals (6) and assists (7).
KEY MOMENTS
- 1H / 12-4 | Following the first media timeout, Kopp found Marvin Nesbitt Jr. in the lane for a quick two. Over the next four minutes, the Roos would rattle off an 18-4 run.
- 1H / 38-8 | Nesbitt found Caden Boser in the lane for a second chance bucket that extended the Roos' lead to 30.
- 1H / 60-23 | Kopp got the ball to Chapman in the paint for a turnaround jumper as time expired in the first half.
- 2H / 73-26 | Arkel Lamar took the ball on the left sideline and pulled up for a bucket that hit the bottom of the net for his final points of the game.
- 2H / 84-26 | Chapman made a pair of free throws, and proceeded to score 12 of the Roos' next 14 points.
- 2H / 101-39 | Chapman found Kopp for his final three-pointer of the game to take Kansas City over the century mark.
STATS TO NOTE
- Six Roos finished in double-digits, the second time that this has happened this season. The first came in the Roos' 99-36 win over Kansas Christian.
- Chapman's 27 points are the most by a freshman in the Billy Donlon era.
- The Roos broke the 100-point mark for the first time since Nov. 27, 2020 when they scored a record-setting 138.
- Kansas City set season-highs in points, field goals made and three-pointers made.
