Plan Gives Department Record-Breaking Fundraising Year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Athletics Roos Elevation Plan proved successful over a nine-month period at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, allowing the department to record its largest fundraising year on record. The plan raised over $2.3M for the year.
"This is a true testament to both the support the Kansas City community has for our student-athletes, and the department's vision of Comprehensive Excellence," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Brandon Martin said. "To be able to see such generosity during a year in which the pandemic wreaked havoc on many is truly a testament to the people of Kansas City."
Year-over-year fundraising for the unrestricted Roo Athletic Fund was up 865%, while team fundraising also rose 20% during the same period. Â The department also saw revenue growth of 25% in corporate partnerships and 270% growth in royalties and licensing. Â With limited and no fans for the majority of the 2020-21 seasons, a revamp of the online merchandise site kcroos.store and a new e-commerce strategy saw an increased revenue in online sales of 370%, online sessions rose 190% and total online orders increased by 591%.
"This was a complete team effort. Every coach and staff member should be proud of this accomplishment," Martin added. "We are excited to add infrastructure to help our student-athletes have the best experience possible."
