Women's Basketball Set for Summit Championships

The Roos travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on WIU in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
2020-21 by the Numbers
- The Roos average 68.4 points per game, sixth in the Summit League, while giving up 70.3 points each contest, good for fourth in the league.
- Kansas City is one of the top three-point shooting teams in the Summit, putting home 35.6% of their three-point attempts (2nd) and averaging 8.9 three-point makes per game (3rd).
- The Roos are also one of the best in the league in defending the three-point line, allowing opponents to shoot just 31.9% from beyond the arc, good for third in the Summit.
- Kansas City is third in the Summit League in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.9), averaging 14.0 assists while turning the ball over 15.5 times per game. The Roos' mark of 14 assists per game is second in the Summit League and 117th nationwide.
- Naomie Alnatas, recently named to the All-Summit First Team, ranks top ten in the conference in points per game (4th), field goal percentage (6th), three-point makes per game (6th) and steals per game (5th). Alnatas has scored in double digits 15 times, breaking 20 points four times.
- RaVon Nero was named Sixth Woman of the Year on Thursday, also earning a spot on the All-Newcomer team. Nero averages 11.2 points per game, breaking the 10-point mark 13 times and scoring 20-plus twice.
- Paige Bradford is the Roos' third player with a double-digit average, scoring 10.5 per game. She has broken double digits 10 times, scoring a career-high 22 against Denver on Jan. 20. Bradford is also the team's rebounding leader, averaging 6.2 per game. She has posted five double-doubles on the year, with the Roos going 4-1 in such games.
- Jonaie Johnson leads the Roos' passing game, averaging 3.7 assists per game (4th in the Summit). Johnson posted a career-high 10 assists in the Jan. 15th win over Western Illinois. She posted her first-career double-double this season, notching a 12-point, 10-rebound performance in the Jan. 23 win over Oral Roberts.
Breaking Records
- Naomie Alnatas had one of the best offensive games in Summit League history on Jan. 23, scoring 45 points in the Roos' 101-93 overtime win over Oral Roberts. It marked the second-highest scoring performance in both program and Summit League history. She scored 24 of those points in the first half, tying Broda Dickerson's record for most points scored in a single half.Â
- In the Dec. 12 89-81 win over SIUE, the Roos knocked down 14 three-pointers, tying a 16-year-old program record. The record would not stand for much longer, as Kansas City hit 16 three-pointers in a 69-59 win over Omaha on Feb. 12.
- In the Feb. 12 win over Omaha, Mandy Willems caught fire. In the first start of her career, Willems did not make a three in the first half of play but went 7-of-11 from behind the arc in the second half. That mark broke Broda Dickerson's 33-year-old record for most three-pointers in a single half.
Searching for the Summit
- The Roos enter the Summit League Championships with a 10-11 record, having gone 7-8 in their first year in Summit League play since 2012-13.Â
- Kansas City earned the fourth seed in the conference tournament for the second time in Head Coach Jacie Hoyt's tenure. The Roos hold a 2-3 record all-time as the four-seed.
- The Roos were most recently the four-seed in the 2019 WAC Tournament, defeating Utah Valley in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion New Mexico State in an overtime thriller in the semifinals.
- Kansas City will take on fifth-seeded Western Illinois in the quarterfinals. The Roos have never lost to a five-seed in conference tournament appearances, holding a 2-0 record all-time.
- The Roos are 8-17 all-time in the quarterfinals of conference tournaments, holding a 3-2 record in the past five years.
- The Roos and Leathernecks have met up in the conference tournament twice before, with the Roos holding a 2-0 advantage. The last time these teams met was in the 2012 Summit League Semifinals, when the Roos took down WIU in a 71-56 drubbing.
- Kansas City has advanced to the Summit League Semifinals five times, holding a 2-3 record. The Roos have played in the Summit Championship twice, most recently falling to No. 1 South Dakota State, 78-77 in overtime in the 2012 Finals.
