Roos Host Denver in Final Home Series

WBB takes on the Pioneers on Friday and Senior Day Saturday at 2 p.m.
Five Things to Know
- Following the Roos' first sweep of Summit League play against Omaha, Kansas City remains in town for a series with Denver on Friday and Saturday.Â
- Kansas City knocked down the three-point shot in record-breaking fashion on Friday afternoon, connecting for 16 three-pointers on the day. It broke the program record of 14 threes, reached against SIUE on Dec. 12 and against Northwest Missouri State in 2005.
- Mandy Willems had a breakout weekend against the Mavericks, earning her first career starts and leading the Roos in scoring in both games. In Friday's matchup, she knocked down seven three-pointers in the second half, breaking the program record for most threes in a single half (previously six by Broda Dickerson against Vanderbilt in 1988).
- After missing the second game of the NDSU series due to injury, Naomie Alnatas picked up right where she left off against Omaha. She averaged 17.5 ppg on the weekend, connecting for five triples on Friday and leading the team with seven rebounds and four steals on Saturday.
- Kansas City is a team that is unafraid to live by the three. The Roos average a Summit League-leading 9.2 threes per game, shooting at a 36.4% clip, good for second in the conference. In games where the Roos shoot above 40% from the three-point arc, they are 6-2. Additionally, KC has attempted at least 10 triples in every game played so far this season.

- Balanced scoring led the Roos to victory, as Mandy Willems and RaVon Nero dropped 16 points each, with Naomie Alnatas and Jada Mickens adding 15.
- Kansas City distributed the ball well against the Mavs'Â zone defense, notching 17 assists on 24 made field goals.
- The Roos owned the paint against a larger Omaha team, scoring 22 points to the Mavericks' 14.
- The game turned into a three-point battle, with the Roos shooting 12-of-29 from long range and Omaha shooting 11-of-29.
- KC's defense led the way, allowing Omaha to score just 36 points in the first three quarters and paving the road to victory.

- Kansas City opened the 2019-20 season with a victory over the Pioneers, avenging 2018's 92-75 defeat.
- There were 15 lead changes in the game, with Kansas City taking the lead for the final time early in the fourth quarter and never surrendering.
- Ericka Mattingly opened her senior campaign by playing all 40 minutes, dropping a game-high 23 points with five rebounds and five assists.
- The Roos held the Pioneers to just 35.3% shooting from the field while connecting at a 48.5% clip themselves.
All-Time Series vs. Denver: Denver leads, 4-3
- The Pioneers opened the series with a 62-38 win over the Roos on Jan. 23, 1999. Just three weeks later, KC got its revenge, winning a 63-58 decision.
- Kansas City's largest margin of victory come on Dec. 12, 2015, a 68-58 win.
- Since the first meeting between the programs, the series has been highly competitive. The average margin of victory in the past six matchups is just over eight points.
- All three of Kansas City's wins have come at home.
Denver Scouting Report
- The Pioneers enter the weekend in seventh place in the Summit League with a 5-13 overall record and are currently riding a three-game losing streak.
- Meghan Boyd and Uju Ezeudu lead Denver's offensive efforts. They average 14.8 and 14.7 points per game, respectively.
- Ezeudu is the Pioneers' leading rebounder as well, averaging 6.4 per game.
- With an assist:turnover ratio of exactly 1.0, Boyd is the seventh-most efficient distributor in the Summit League.
- Denver scores an average of 71.3 points per game, good for second in the Summit. On the other side, they allow 78.3 points per game, eighth in the conference.
