Women's Basketball Set to Host Baker

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Basketball will look to continue its hot streak on Wednesday evening, hosting Baker in the Swinney Center at 7 p.m.

- After dropping their season opener, Kansas City has rattled off seven-straight games, matching the third-longest streak in program history. Of the seven wins, five have been by at least 14 points.
- Naomie Alnatas was named the Summit League Player of the Month for the month of November after averaging over 19 points per game and 68% three-point shooting. She is the first Roo woman since 1996 to win the award.
- The Roos have been dominant on the boards, out-rebounding opponents by an average of 12.4 per game, 14th in the nation. Kiara Bradley, Paige Bradford and Brooklyn McDavid all average over seven rebounds and rank top-ten in the Summit.
- While Alnatas leads the nation in three-point percentage (72.0%), Mandy Willems's triple accuracy and volume are nothing to scoff at. She ranks first in the Summit with an average of 2.88 makes per game, while shooting at a 42.8% clip, 58th in Division One.
- One of the Roos' best improvements from last season has come at the charity stripe. Last year, the Roos averaged six fewer makes per game than their opponents, shooting at a 71.9% rate. So far this season, the Roos make four more free throws per game than the opposition, shooting at a 76.5% clip.
- As of Dec. 6, the Roos rank 69th in the NET rankings. The only Summit League team ranked higher is South Dakota at 65th. South Dakota State is not far behind, coming in with the 71st spot.
- KC was shown love in the Nov. 30 College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll, receiving 36 votes.Â
Baker Notes
- Wednesday's game will count as an exhibition for Baker, who enters the match with a 6-7 record. The Wildcats have won their last two games against Park and Missouri Valley.
- The Roos and Wildcats have played a common foe in Haskell, who Baker defeated by five and Kansas City beat by 57.
- Freshman Sophia Barrett leads Baker, scoring 11.2 points per game.
Stats to Watch
- Kansas City has knocked down double-digit threes in each of the past two games, a feat which they accomplished in four-straight contests from Jan. 15-24 last season.
- Throughout the seven-game streak, the Roos are holding opponents to just 20.9% three-point shooting.
