Women's Tennis Falls in Battle with Illinois State

The bottom of the singles lineup produced in a big way for the Roos
NORMAL, Ill. - The Kansas City women's tennis team came away with three victories in singles competition during a 4-3 loss to Illinois State on Sunday.
The Roos are coming off a quarantine period, and also had to deal with the absence of senior Yana Grechkina, but still managed to pull together three singles victories.
"For our first match, the girls competed super well," said head coach Kendell Hale. "The upper classmen really showed up and played well."
After dropping the doubles point, seniors Grace Ball, Thanushree Vale, and junior Michela Xibilia won singles matches against the Redbirds. Ball came out on top in three sets: 6-7, 6-4, 6-2; Vale won in two sets: 7-5, 6-3; and Xibilia also was victorious in two sets: 6-2, 6-3.
Junior Riddhi Sharma and freshmen Tuana Tinaztepe and Eva Kresovic dropped their matches, with Kresovic taking hers to a third set.
The Roos are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 13 as they travel to Tulsa for a match with the Golden Hurricane.
